The target audience for this article is Cheryl Cole fans and people who don’t know the real Cheryl Cole. It is not for Girls aloud fans as you can see it is not the usual bright colours of girls aloud so it is trying to show her independence as a solo artist. They use quite formal language which shows more intellectual people read this magazine and it is not a kid’s magazine like top of the pops which shows they are targeting an older audience. They use words like consequently and other words kids would not know so shows they have targeted an older more mature audience also they quote swearing when Cheryl says "everything i do is scrutinised, everything i F***ing say" which shows tyhis magazine is definately not for kids and is for a adult article and also shows shes has a rebellious side to swear in a magazine.
The writer starts by talking to the reader like they are a member of the group then he starts talking about Cheryl Cole like she is not a celebrity but she is just a woman with problems which is used so women can relate to her so that is more of a audience for the magazine. Then the writer gives us a recap of Cheryl’s career so people who do not know her story know the important parts which is the meaning of the article so it is a success which is good for Cheryl as she does not want to be known as that girl from girls aloud. That is why she chose Q magazine as Q is a serious music magazine unlike the usual magazines girls aloud did like top of the pops. On the double page spread they show Cheryl looking like a rock chick with a lot of the colour black which is like a new side to Cheryl a new Cheryl in fact also they make her look really seductive to draw in male readers so more people read the article which is a smart idea so the article is for both male and females. Also the use of making her look like a rock chick will also bring in other readers who would not be interested in a pop star but as she is dressed as a rock chick people will read about her which brings her a new audience for her music. On the double page spread they use a picture of Cheryl where she is looking at the camera which is like she is looking straight at the reader which creates a connection between her n the reader.
The article is a good one everything used is to the advantage of Q magazine and especially Cheryl Cole Q keep their reputation of not really putting pop in their magazine by making Cheryl look like a rock chick and it helps Cheryl by getting her a new audience and also lets people get to know her .
In the the last photo we have a low shot of Cheryl which makes her look taller thanthe city to show her female dominance and connotes how strong she is and also shows she no fragile woman like she was shown to be in girls aloud. also in all the photo's we get a shot of the city oin the background but we see no people whhich shows her independence.
